Similar Gifts Like “Man Crates”

Man Crates is a unique service that has crates filled with specific things that men would really enjoy as a gift. Don’t get me wrong, Man Crates has some pretty amazing stuff for men, however, there are a lot of people searching for alternatives for one reason or another.

So, what are some other gifts like Man Crates? In this article I am going to go through some other popular options that men love to receive in the mail every month. These monthly surprises range from shaving equipment to gamer gear to clothing. There are a lot of options out there. Let’s take a brief look at them and see if they interest you or maybe it would make a great gift for your father.

Here is my list of the best monthly or boxed gifts for men that are similar to Man Crate! These are all sure to make a great gift for dad!

#1 – Dollar Shave Club

dollar shave club

There is a good chance you have already seen the Dollar Shave Club. They have been all over my FaceBook feed for years promoting themselves and for good reason. The reviews are great. They mention how you can get amazing razors and world-class grooming products for only a few bucks a month.

I checked out the pricing page and that definitely seems to be true. I am located in Canada so the prices I see may be more than if you are in the United States.

Their most expensive plan is only $9.50cdn a month called “The Executive”. This includes 4 stainless steel, 6-blade cartridges a month. The middle plan is called “The 4X” and costs $6.50cdn which provides 4 stainless steel, 4-blade cartridges a month. Lastly, they have “The Humble Twin”, which, you guessed it, provides 5 stainless steel, twin blade cartridges a month for only $3.50cdn a month.

There are no “stupid fees”, nothing is hidden. You can cancel at anytime and there is a 100% money back guarantee. Based on the ridiculous prices I see for name brands at Walmart or Costco, these prices are actually really great.

They also offer other products such as shaving butter and showering products. I actually forgot about these guys and just signed up myself! For less than $4 a month I am getting 5 cartridges, they threw in the shaving handle for free and shipping is free. You can change the delivery frequency if you won’t be using that many every month.

#2 – Amazon Prime Wardrobe

prime wardrobe

This is a really great service offered by Amazon. Just a heads up that you will need a Prime membership to use this service, it’s included with it. Basically, you can order 3+ items of clothing, shoes, or accessories that will be delivered to you 100% free.

You have a seven day “try on” period where you can see if you like them. If they don’t fit or don’t look how you thought, you ship them back by UPS with a provided return label. You just drop it off and send it back. You only pay for what you keep. You are basically trying on and shopping for clothes like at a mall but from your own bedroom.

I really think this is such a clever service especially for very busy people. This website focuses on gifts for dads, but it the Prime Wardrobe service is excellent for men, women, children, and babies.

Just to recap, this is only offered to Prime members. All items that qualify for this program will have the Prime Wardrobe Logo displayed beside them.

You are allowed to order between 3 to 8 items and not allowed to order the exact same item twice. Which makes sense since you are basically just trying them on to see if you found a match.

This is a great alternative to the Man Crate for those looking to stay stylish. You can hand pick exactly your style and probably have a higher chance of receiving stuff you actually want.

#3 – Butcher Box

butcher box

With all the man-hate going on lately in the world (Some of it rightly so, but not all), there is nothing better than a big box of meat to make your dad feel like he still has testosterone pumping through his arteries.

How does it work? Well, it’s like all the other monthly box subscriptions. You select a package or box that you would like to try. These are filled with high quality mixes of beef, chicken, and pork. You can customize your own.

Next, the box of meat gets delivered to your doorstep in an insulated box, packaged with care and very sturdy.

The last step? Cook it! Butcher Box provides some fantastic recipes to try that are great for the whole family.

Why would the Butcher Box be a great idea for dad? It saves him time! He can spend more time with the family instead of hours every month browsing the meat aisle in a busy grocery store.

The quality is great. 100% Grass-fed & Grass-finished Beef. Heritage Breed Pork. Free-range Organic Chicken. You are only receiving the best of the best.

The price is not too shabby at all either, they work with a collective of small farms to provide you with prices as low as $6 per meal for the highest quality meats available.

#4 – Driftaway Coffee

driftaway coffee

Coffee is life. Life is coffee. I wouldn’t be able to write this article right now if I didn’t have a monster cup of coffee inside me. Personally, I drink bulletproof coffee (A special Keto version with butter and coconut included in it).

If you love your coffee as much as I do, then you may want to check out Driftaway Coffee for yourself, as well as a gift for your dad. This is a great way to match your tastes for coffee and to connect you with the coffee farmers!

How does Driftaway Coffee work? You start with a tasting kit with four different profiles. You rank each one on the website or app. You will then receive new coffee delivered to you that match your tastes. You can then keep track of all your favourite coffees. Each package delivered comes with information about the region and the farmer from where your fresh coffee came from. This gives you the chance to nerd-out a little!

The four main taste profiles that you can match with are Fruity, Classic, Balanced, and Bold. The coffee regions will range from all over the world. Africa to Brazil to Nicaragua and much more!

#5 – Lootcrate

Lastly, I am finishing with an awesome monthly box subscription made for gamers and pop culture nerds of all ages! I was subscribed to these folks for quite some time and really loved the gear that I received.

Why am I no longer a member? I have to be honest here, they raised the prices on Canadians and I already felt like the value wasn’t good enough. I understand the thrill about these are not knowing what exactly is coming. It’s a nice surprise, but I also feel like these packages should offer a great amount of value.

One thing that would bother me is how they would claim certain items were exclusive to them. However, you could just do a quick search for the company name on the item and they would have all those items for sale and more on their own website.

As much as I loved the loot, for me personally, I thought I could put the $40 towards something else I would actually care about after a couple days instead of piling more random items in a closet, never to be seen again.

Wow, so I just bashed the crap out of them right? Well, not so fast. I still feel like Lootcrate is awesome. Especially if you are all about that culture. I wouldn’t be surprised if I join again, but when trying to save a dollar here or there, this is the first thing to go. It’s a pure indulgence and if price is not a concern for you, this would make an excellent gift for your nerdy father or for yourself.

There are so many options out there to choose from if you are looking for similar gifts like Man Crate. I hop the list above helped you to discover whats out there in the world.

Some are filled with great value and neat gifts that any dad would really appreciate. Something as simple as $3 a month for razors is a fantastic and cheap option.
